If you’re reading this it’s because you’ve been following me or are a close friend. Or despite all my mistakes you’ve somehow managed to stumble in here from an organic search… If you’re not reading this yet it’s ok, you’ll find us soon enough, and start following too because we have a New Years Resolution. We’re setting goals for FishinEdition and for the website to build a community of fishermen and fisherwoman, outdoorsmen and outdoorswomen (if that’s a word?), friends and neighbors… You get the idea here.
2016 was a fun learning experience, just getting started doing this, putting it all together. So here’s some stuff we accomplished last year. After years of talking about it, we finally put the website up. It sparked conversation in my community. People I knew in town were saying HEY Man, I saw your post you shared on Facebook, that’s awesome, how often do you fish? Conversations would just start, and I realized people were curious. They had questions. People who don’t fish are asking me, hey how do I get started. Hey If I wanted to take my kids fishing, what do I need? It was pretty cool, It made me feel validated that I have something to offer people. It gave me the motivation to continue doing what I was doing.
We got a GoPro to video, we posted our first one on YouTube. We got a dedicated laptop to edit media, and posts. I have even been eyeing a 2020 Pershing 7X Boat which will look awesome in our videos, and give them just that bit more of a high profile feel. In fact I’m already looking at marine engine mounts because I plan to do some pretty neat modifications that will considerably upgrade its performance. I’ll probably run it stock for a little while, but I’m liking the idea of tinkering with it a bit and seeing what I end up with. So basically, we have both short-term and long-term plans. Last year we did so much work to get this ball rolling, but at the same time, kept stepping on our own feet trying to get it to keep moving.
2017 is going to be a little different. I’m currently drafting up a post schedule to maintain a consistent release. I’ve gotten some new equipment, and done some testing with it now. I’ve spent some time editing and playing with settings trying to figure out how everything works in advance. I should be able to bring good media more consistently. The kayak is getting some new gadgets this spring. I’ve been stocking up on some new tackle to play with and share!
Yeah yeah yeah, enough, lets get to the Goals Bry!
Our 2017 New Years Resolution from here on out, I’m going to do my very best to bring a post once a week. I’m hoping to get some sort of cool gear guide, or fishing adventure on YouTube at least once a month. This will generate more cools pics and videos, and gear related content to share on the FishinEdition Facebook and Instagram.
On the site where it says Gear Picks, yeah, we’re gonna ACTUALLY add those in. I see a lot of traffic driven there and then bouncing off because of no content, which means to me you guys want it, but due to my own inexperience and procrastination it just hasn’t happened yet.
We’re going to organize the website for better navigation, more pics, more cool stuff. Last but not least, I will not spend so much time second guessing, or holding off for the perfect timing, or perfect editing on my articles. I’m a perfectionist at heart, and probably more truthfully, I’m a little OCD when I comes to this stuff. I vow to you that instead of promising perfection, I promise a fun read, and cool stories and content on a more reliable schedule at the expense of grammar and spelling! 2017 is going to be a great year for FishinEdition and I’m really looking forward to share it with you guys! Whats your New Years Resolution?
